Kollu Thogayal (Horsegram Chutney)

A simple, healthy and tasty recipe to  have with hot steaming rice, adding a tea spoon of sesame oil. This gives a real break when had after the days of feast and festivals. Microwaved Pappad, Kollu thogayal and Pepper rasam ......... What a combination!!!!

Ingredients for making Kollu Thogayal:


Kollu (Horsegram)  1 cup (Preferably the black one, since it is healthier)

Red chillies 3 or 4

Coconut 3 tb spoons

Hing powder 1/2 tea spoon

Tamarind a small gooseberry size

Salt to taste


How to make Kollu Thogayal?


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heat a Kadai with 2 tea spoons of oil. Add the Horsegram and fry it till it splutters and nice aroma comes. While frying the horsegram add the red chillies too. After they get cooled, add the rest of the ingredients and grind to smooth chutney with required water.

 

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

(While frying the horsegram 4 to 5 garlic heads could be added)
