Cabbage Kati Roll



Kati roll is a popular and lip smacking street food originated in Kolkata. These Vegetable wraps are usually prepared with whole wheat flour/maida. This cabbage kati roll becomes irresistible to eat since cabbage is roasted and spiced up with garlic....

Ingredients for making Cabbage Kathi Roll:


Whole wheat Flour 300 gms

Salt to taste

Oil 2 tea spoons

Mix the above three ingredients well with fingers and knead them to a soft roti dough adding water. 

Keep the dough aside.

Cabbage Masala:

Grated Cabbage from ½ kg of cabbage

Garlic heads 8 

Finely chopped onions 3 tb spoons

Finely chopped green chillies 1 tea spoon

Red chilli powder ½ tea spoon

Cumin seeds powder ½ tea spoon

Oil 2 tb spoons

Besan flour (Gram Flour) 2 tb spoons

How to make Cabbage Kathi Roll?


Crush the garlic and keep aside.
Heat a pan and dry roast the besan flour till nice aroma comes and colour changes and keep aside.










Now heat a wok or pan with oil and add the onions. While it gets fried add required salt to it and fry.Add the green chillies, red chilli powder, garlic  and stir well. Now add the grated cabbage and mix well. Let the flame be in high. Keep stirring. Shortly the cabbage gives out water. Don’t bother.




The water gets absorbed fastly and the stuff will start getting cooked. Now add the roasted besan flour and stir well. The flour helps to bind the stuff together well. Switch off the stove. Now the cabbage masala is ready to be wrapped.


With the Roti dough make rotis as usual or chapathis and keep 2 tb spoons of cabbage masala on each roti. Roll them and store in the lunch box or serve on plates...
