Nellikkai Pachadi / Amla Raita (Creamy Gooseberry Dip)

Ingredients for making Nellikkai Pachadi / Amla Raita (Creamy Gooseberry Dip):

  • Gooseberries /Amla /Nellikkai  5 or 6
  • Fresh Curd / Unflavoured palin youghurt  300 ml or 2 cups
  • Salt to taste
  • Green chillies 2 or 3
  • Ginger piece 1/2 inch size, Coconut pieces few
  • Oil 1/2 tea spoon
  • Mustard seeds and Urad dal 1/4 tea spoon each
  • Curry leaves few

How to make Nellikkai Pachadi / Amla Raita (Creamy Gooseberry Dip)?

Wash the gooseberries well and steam them out in a steamer or idli cooker for 10 minutes. Or microwave them for 5 minutes.
Remove the seeds after they get cooled down.
Add the gooseberries, coconut, salt, green chillies, ginger together and put them in a blender.
Grind them without adding water.
Transfer the paste to the curd and mix well.
Do the seasoning in a sauteing pan with mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves and add to the raita.
