Spicy Fibrous Chutney / Dip

This chutney tastes simply heavenly to have with rotis, dosas and idlis. An ideal condiment to use as the spreads on breads too. When you make this as the side dish for breakfast, you need not think of making another vegetable for Lunch. It can be had with curd rice or even with plain rice. Ingredients for making Spicy Fibrous Chutney:


Yellow Pumpkin Fibre 2 cups
Chopped onions from 2 onions
Chopped Tomatoes 2
Grated Ginger from a piece of 1 inch size
Red chillies 4
Urad dal (Black Gram) 3 tea spoons
Chana dal (Bengal gram) 2 tea spoons
Tamarind a small gooseberry size
Salt to taste
Hing powder 1/4 tea spoon
Oil 1 tb spoon



How to make Spicy Fibrous Chutney?


Dry roast the two dals separately to golden brown and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan.
Fry the onions with red chillies till the colour starts changing.
Add the ginger, tomatoes and Pumpkin Fibre.
Keep the flame in medium and keep cooking.
Let them get stirred till the fibre becomes soft and tomatoes become mushy.
Add the salt, tamarind and hing powder. Stir well.
Switch off the stove.






















Allow them to cool down.
Add the roasted dals to the fried stuff and grind to smooth paste in a blender.
It is not necessary to add water.
Do the seasoning with mustard seeds.
The delicious chutney is ready now.
