Pachai Pattani Sundal

Pattani Sundal made of Dried Green Peas is a very tasty Sundal loved by all. Though we make it on any one eveing of the Navaratri days, Pattani Sundal is also a delectable evning snack to have with coffee or tea.

  • Pre time: 10 mins
  • Cooking time: 25 mins
  • Serves: 6

Ingredients for making Pattani Sundal:

  • Dried Green peas 250 gms
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon
  • Asafoetida powder 1/4 teaspoon
  • Oil 2 tb spoons
  • Mustard, urad dal for seasoning
  • Slitted green chillies 2
  • Grated ginger 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves few
To Grind:
  • Coconut 3 tb spoons
  • Sambar powder or Red chilli powder 3/4 teaspoon
Coarsely grind the the above items without water and keep aside.


How to make Pattani Sundal?

  • Wash and soak the Dried Green peas over night or for 8 hours.
  • Pressure cook with salt and turmeric powder to 6 or 7 whistles.
  • Heat a pan with oil and do the seasoning with mustard,urad dal, curry leaves,turmeric, asafoetida and green chillies.
  • Add the boiled green peas and stir for a while.
  • Sprinkle handful of water and cook for 5 minutes in medium flame till the water becomes dry.
  • Add the coconut stuff and mix well.
  • Switch off.
  • The tasty Pattani Sundal is ready.
