Spicy Rajma Masala (Spicy Kidney Beans Masala)

Rajma masala made of Red kidney beans  is a healthy and delicious Punjabi side dish cooked in Tomato pulp with basic Indian Spices. Rajma masala satiates your taste buds when had either with Indian bread varieties or Hot Rice.

Ingredients for making Spicy Rajma Masala:

Rajma 2 cups

Chopped garlic 1 tea spoon

Chopped ginger 1 tea spoon

Green Chilli 2

 Salt to taste

For Tempering:

2 Table spoons oil and a table spoon butter

Cumin seeds  1/2 tea spoon

Crushed Cinnamon and Cloves 1 tea spoon

Chopped onions 1 cup

Ginger garlic paste 2 tea spoons

Tomato Puree taken from 4 tomatoes 

Red Chilli powder 1 tea spoon

Coriander powder 2 teaspoons

Cumin seed powder 1/4 tea spoon

Salt to taste

Curd 1/2 cup

Sugar 1/2 tea spoon


How to make Spicy Rajma Masala?


Soak the rajma overnight and pressure cook it with half a litre water, chopped garlic, chopped ginger, whole green chilly and little bit of salt for taste. Keep it aside

Heat butter and  oil in a pan.

Add to this cumin seeds and crushed spices. 

Now add the chopped onion. Saute till the onions turn brown, then add the ginger garlic paste. Fry them all together.

Then add  red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and little salt for taste.

Roast them all the with the  powdered spices. Mix them all well. Add the tomato puree and fry till the oil separates.

Add a little bit of water to this mix. Add sugar and allow them to boil well.

Now add the boiled Rajma to this mix and stir well with the curd. Cover the pan with a lid and keep the flame in medium and let them all blend well. Give a final stir and garnish with coriander leaves.
