ChatPat Mint Rice

An easy to make Mint rice, that tastes delicious with the small crunchy bites of dals, ideal for Lunch box and goes very well with simple plain yoghurt or any crisps. For this recipe no need for chopping or peeling in the busy hectic morning schedule. It can also be made on Vrat Days since it is a No Onion and No Garlic recipe....

How to make ChatPat Mint Rice? (For 2 people)


  • Boil required amount of rice and keep aside.
  • Take a bunch of mint leaves, de stem the leaves, wash it and drain the water.
  • Heat a pan with 2 teaspoons of oil and two tea spoons of ghee.
  • Fry 3 tea spoons of coriander seeds, 2 tea spoons of chana dal, 2 tea spoons of urad dal, half tea spoon of pepper corns, 3 red chillies till they become golden brown.
  • Add a gooseberry size of tamarind to the frying stuff when the dals start to become brown and give a stir.
  • Switch off the stuff. Add required salt and a small piece of jagerry to the fried stuff.
  • After it gets cooled down add the mint leaves to it and powder it in the mixie coarsely.
  • Add the powdered stuff to the boiled rice and mix well gently.
  • Suate it with mustard seeds and cumin seeds in a tea spoon of ghee and serve with any crisps or raitha.
