Tip #14: What to do with the Leftover Rice?


Rice is the daily menu of our cooking and most of the times we end up the day with the leftover rice. Use the Smart Samayal Tips below to make delicacies out of the leftovers..








#1: RICE ROTI

Mash the leftover rice with the masher and add 2 cups of wheat flour and desired spices (Chilli powder, garam masala powder, cumin seed powder.,etc) and make a dough as we do for Chappathi. Make thick chappathis with ghee and serve with Tomato sauce or any pickle.


#2: RICE SALAD

Mix a cup of leftover rice with a teaspoon of curry powder, spring onions, a teaspoon of vinegar and two teaspoons of oil. Add finely chopped capsicum and 2 teaspoons of mayonnaise. Chill this Rice salad before serving.




#3: STAR HOTEL CURD RICE

Add two cups of milk, 1 cup of water and salt to the rice and pressure cook to four whistles.  Season it with mustard seeds, green chillies and ginger. Allow it to cool down for a while. Add pomegranate seeds and a cup of fresh curd. Star Hotel Creamy Curd rice is ready.



 


#4: VEGETABLE RICE BALLS

Mash the rice and keep it aside. Heat the kadai with a table spoon of oil. Saute it with mustard seeds, Urad dhal, green chillies and hing. Add finely chopped onions, carrot, capsicum and cabbage and fry for a while. Add the mashed rice rice and salt. Mix well. After cooling make them to small balls and steam them to get Spicy Vegetable Rice balls.


#5: RICE ADAI

Mix a cup of mashed rice with turmeric powder, chilli powder, finely chopped onions, ginger, garlic, coriander leaves and required salt and hing. Mix them all well. Heat a tava and sprinkle oil all over it. Take a small ball of the mixture. Press it to make it flat and place it on the tava. Cook it on both the sides with oil.
