Mixed Dal Fry


Mixed Dal Fry is a protein rich, spicy, delectable side dish for rotis and rice. Dal curry is always an important part of Indian cuisine. Since this is made with different pulses it gives out fantastic flavour blending with traditional spices. This mixed dal fry can be made easily and quickly.

Ingredients for making Mixed Dal Fry:


1 full cup of dal containing equal amount of the following 5 dals:

Thur dal (pigeon split dal)
Black gram / Urad dal (Split)
Moongh dal
Green gram (Split)
Masoor dal (Pink dal)


Oil 2 tb spoons
Finely chopped ginger and garlic 1/2 tea spoon each
Finely chopped green chillies 1 tea spoon
Finely chopped Onions from 1 onion
Chopped tomatoes 1 tomato
Sugar 1/2 tea spoon
Kasoori methi 1 tea spoon
Coriander leaves

Spices


Cumin seeds 1/2 tea spoon
Turmeric powder a pinch
Garam masala powder 1/4 tea spoon
Coriander seed powder 1/2 tea spoon
Red chilli powder 1 tea spoon



How to make Mixed dal Fry?


Wash the dals well and soak them in water for 2 hours.
Then pressure cook them with turmeric powder to soft up to 6 whistles.
Keep aside.












Heat a pan with oil.
Saute it with cumin seeds. Once they splutter fry the garlic, ginger and green chillies well.
Fry the onions till they become transparent, Now add the tomatoes and fry till they become mushy.
Add all the spice powders and stir for few seconds.
Pour the boiled dal mix in to the pan.
Add required salt, 1 tea spoon of sugar  and 1 cup of water.












Let them boil till thickens.
Add finally the kasoori methi and coriander leaves.
Switch off the stove.
