Tomato Aval / Poha bath

Ingredients for making Tomato Aval / Poha bath:

  • Aval / Poha 2 cups (250 gms)
  • Thincly sliced onions and Capsicum 1/2 cup each
  • Tomatoes 3
  • Slitted green chillies 3
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 2 table spoons
  • Mustard seeds and urad dal for seasoning
  • Curry leaves and coriander leaves few


How to make Tomato Aval / Poha bath?

Wash the tomatoes well and put them in a blender and grind to paste.
Keep it aside.
Heat a pan with oil and do the seasoning with mustard seeds and urad dal.
Once the seeds splutter and dal becomes brown add the onions and capsicum and fry for a minute with green chillies.
Now pour the tomato juice in to it and add required salt.


Wait till the tomato juice becomes thick like a pulp.
Now rinse the poha in water and squeeze the water out.
Add the poha in to the pan and stir well.
Keep the flame to low and leave it for 2 minutes.
Add chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves.
Switch off the stove.
