Instant Masal Vadai

Crispy and  Mouth watering Masal Vadais that can be made without dals and no need to grind anything . A perfect Monsoon snack to have with coffee or tea. This Vadas can also be made for any Poojas skipping onions...

Ingredients for making Instant Masal Vada:

Thin Poha / Aval / Beaten Rice flakes 2 cups
Besan flour / Kadalai maavu 2 table spoons
Rice flour 2 table spoons
Sooji / Semolina / rava 2 table spoons
Finely chopped onions, green chillies, ginger, curry leaves and coriander leaves
Salt to tase
Oil for frying

How to make Instant Masal Vadai?

  • Wash the poha and soak in water for 7 minutes.
  • Add the chopped items together in a bowl with salt and mix well.
  • Place the poha in a strainer and drain off the water out.
  • Squeeze the poha well with hand and add to the bowl with chopped items.

  • Add all the flours to it.
  • Knead forcefully with hand mashing them all together to get the vada dough / batter.
  • Heat oil in a pan.

  • Take small lemon size balls from the bowl place them on a plastic sheet and flatten them with fingers to get small vadas.

  • Drop them in oil and fry to golden brown and crispy.

  • Note: Instead of rice flour corn flour can also be added.
