Karuppatti Chola paniyaram (Palm jagery Jowar Appe)

Cholam / Jowar Combined with palm jagerry, fenu greek seeds, rice and urad dal gives fantastic texture to the stuff with spongy pores inside. Sweet Chola Kuzhi Paniyaram  is a healthy food to be served as break fast and evening snack to all age groups.

Ingredients for making Sweet Chola Kuzhi Paniyaram:

  • Jowar / Cholam 1 cup
  • Par boiled rice / Idli rice 3/4 cup
  • Urad dal 1/2 cup
  • Fenugreek seeds / Methi seeds / Venthayam 1 tea spoon full
  • Palm jagerry powdered 1 and 1/2 cup
  • Green cardamom powder 1/2 tea spoon
  • Shredded coconut 3 table spoons
  • Salt 1/4 tea spoon
  • Oil or ghee for making kuzhi paniyaram

How to make Sweet Chola Kuzhi Paniyaram ?

Combine all the ingredients except palm jagerry in a vessel and wash well.
Soak in water for four hours.
Grind in a blender or grinder to fine smooth paste adding minimum water.
Let the batter be a thick one.
Allow it to ferment for 6 hours.
Dissolve the palm jagerry in 100 ml of hot water.
Once it dissolves well, filter to remove the dirts.
After it becomes cold, add the Jaggery water to the batter.
Add cardamom powder and shredded coconut.
Mix well.
Heat the Appe pan and grease all the craters with oil or ghee.
Pour the batter in to the craters filling 3/4 th of the craters.

Wait till they get cooked well.
Flip off with a sharp knife or spoon and once both sides become golden brown take out.
