Urulai Pattani Kaara Curry (Spicy Potato Green Peas Curry)

Urulai Pattani curry is an unbeatable combo for sambar rice, rasam rice and even curd rice. It can also be wrapped with rotis for lunch box. This spicy curry is the most favourite side dish for many of us isn't it?

Ingredients for making Urulai Pattani Curry (Potato Green Peas Curry)?

  • Potatoes 500 gm
  • Sliced onions from 2 onions
  • Finely chopped Tomatoes from 1 tomato
  • Fresh green peas 3 table spoons
  • Red chilli powder 1 and 1/2 tea spoon
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon
  • Fennel seeds / Saunf / Sombu 1 tea spoon
  • Mustard seeds and Urad dal for tempering
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 3 table spoons



How to make Urulai Pattani Curry (Potato Green Peas Curry)?

Wash the potatoes and pressure cook them.
Once they are boiled well, peel the skin and roughly chop to cubes.
Heat a pan with oil.
Do the tempering with mustard and urad dal.
Once they splutter add fennel seeds and curry leaves.
Fry onions for a while and put green peas in to it and stir for a while.
Then add tomatoes and turmeric, salt and red chilli powder and stir.
Let the green peas get cooked till the tomatoes become pulpy and gives out oil.
Now transfer the boiled potato pieces to the pan and mix well gently.
Let them get fried in medium flame till becomes brown for atleast 20 minutes.
