Rasakalan is a truly delicious, curd based veg curry from  Kerala. Rasakalan is unique and special inits own way and tastes delicious. Mix the tasty Rasakalan in hot steaming rice with Pappads as side dish and enjoy the divine taste of Rasakalan.

Ingredients for making Rasakalan:

  • Diced Veggies like Ashgourd, Yam, Pumpkin and Drumstick 250 gms together
  • Grated Coconut from one shell of coconut
  • Blended thick curd with mild sourness 300 ml
  • Coconut oil 34 tea spoons
  • Red chillies 3
  • Green chillies 2
  • Fenugreek seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • Raw rice 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeic powder 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder 1/4 tea spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Mustard seeds
  • Red chilli 1
  • Curry leaves few

How to make rasakalan?

  • Heat 2 tspns of oil.
  • Roast raw rice, fenu greek and red chillies till the seeds become brown.
  • Add green chillies and coconut and switch off.
  • Grind to smooth paste with water.
  • Mix the paste witht he blended curd, mix well and keep aside.
  • Boil the veggies in a pan with water adding turmeric, chilli powder and salt.
  • Wait till the veggies are cooked well.
  • Add the curd mix to the pan and mix well.
  • Wait till the stuff starts giving out bubbles well.
  • Switch off the stove.
  • Do the seasoning in 2 tspoons of oil with mustard, red chillies and curry leaves and add tot he rasakalan.
  • The tasty Rasakalan is ready to serve.
