South Indian Spicy Potato Curry


This  potato curry with strong flavours of spices, blended with creamy coconut milk serves the yummiest combo to any Rice, Pulao and Indian Bread varieties.

Ingredients for making South Indian Spicy Potato Curry:


Boiled potatoes 5
Chopped onions from 2 onions
Chopped tomatoes from 2 small potatoes
Garam masala powder 1/4 tea spoon
Ginger garlic paste 1 tea spoon
Fennel seeds/ Saunf /Sombu 1 and1/2 tea spoons
Thick coconut milk 50 ml
Red chilli powder 2 tea spoons
Salt to taste
Curry leaves
Oil 3 tb spoons



How to make South Indian Spicy Potato Curry?


After boiling the potatoes in a pressure cooker allow them to cool.
Peel off the skin and cut them in to rough cubes and keep aside.
Heat a pan with oil and saute it with the fennel seeds.
Once they splutter fry the onions till the colour changes.
Then add the curry leaves and ginger garlic paste and stir well.
















Then fry the tomatoes till they become mushy in medium flame.
Now add the salt, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and mix well.
Add the potatoes and stir well till the masalas coat well on the potatoes.
Pour the coconut milk into the pan and keep the flame low.
Allow the potatoes to get fried with the milk and spices till the curry becomes dry.
Now the spicy potatoes are ready to serve.

  4. could u write the PREPARATION of POTATO KARA KOOTU .. in 1950 in my schooldays one day my mom who was preparing this KOOTU ( as a SIDE DISH for POORIS) just i was recollecting the old memories..OF COURSE IT is mouth watering item,,which
    maybe the compination with CHAPPATHIS ,DOSAS etc.....
