Thin tamarind juice extracted from a half Lemon size tamarind
Coriander seed powder 3 tea spoons
Red chilli powder 1 or 2 tea spoons
Mustard seeds, a red chilli and cumin seeds for seasoning
Curry leaves and coriander leaves for garnishing
Method for making Tiffin Sambar:
In a pressure cooker or pan put the dals, tomataoes, onions, chopped carrots and chillies together. Add 4 cups of water and a pinch of turmeric powder. pressure cook it for 5 to 6 whistles.
When the steam is released, mash them well with a ladle. Add salt and tamarind juice. Make it to boil. Add the coriander powder and red chilli powder. let them boil for 5 minutes.
Saute it with mustard seeds and cumin seeds and do the garnishing. The yummy and mouthwatering tiffin sambar is ready now to serve...
