Muzhu Ulunthu & Thinai Dosa



Muzhu Ulunthu Dosa is the authentic dosa variety of Tirunelveli. It is a  delicious dosa that tastes heavenly with onion chutney. It has numerous health benefits since made with whole black gram and fenugreek seeds . Here I have made it more healthy and nutritious adding Foxtail millet,reducing the quantity of rice. Ingredients for Muzhu Ulunthu & Thinai Dosa:


Par boiled Rice 2 cups (Puzhungal arisi)
Foxtail millet 3 cups
Whole Blackgram (Muzhu Ulunthu) 2 cups
Fenu greek seeds 1 tea spoon
Salt to taste
Oil for making dosa



How to make Muzhu Ulunthu & Thinai Dosa?


Put all the grains and seeds together, wash and soak in water for 5 hours.

Then grind it to a fine batter adding water and salt in a wet grinder or mixie.










Store the batter in a bigger vessel since the batter foams up while fermenting.

Allow it to ferment for 8 hours or overnight. Then make dosa or store in refrigerator and make dosa whenever needed.

Mix well with a ladle.













Heat the dosa tawa, grease it with drops of oil.

Pour a ladle of batter on it and bring into roun d dosa.

Drizzle few drops of oil on and around dosa.









Flip off to next side and cook for 45 seconds.

When both sides are in golden brown the dosa is ready to serve with Yummy Onion Chutney..
