Corn / Chola Rava Kichadi

Kichadi or Uppma is the solution to make breakfast easily and tastily for 10 or more people. It is stomach filling and also nutritious with vegetables. Sooji or Ordinary Rava Kichadi may cause some indigestion problems to elders, where as this Corn Rava Kichadi is easily digestible for even old people...

Ingredients for making Corn Rava Kichadi:

  • 2 cups of Corn Rava
  • Water 4 1/2 cups
  • Oil 4 table spoons
  • Chopped onions 1/2 cup
  • Chopped vegetables like tomatoes, cabbage, capsicum abd carrot together 1 cup
  • Slitted green chillies 4
  • For seasoning - Mustard seeds and Urad dhal
  • Curry leaves and Coriander leaves for garnishing


Method for making Corn Rava Kichadi:

Heat a Broad pan with oil.
Add mustard seeds and Urad dhal.
After they splutter add the onions and green chillies.
Fry for a minute and add the rest of Veggies.
Now add the 2 cups of Rava and fry well with all veggies in medium flame for 3 to 5 minutes.
Add salt, 4 and 1/2 cups of water and close the pan with a lid.
Keep the stove in very low flame for 15 to 20 minutes.
Then take off the lid and mix gently.
Now add the garnishing stuff. Kichadi is ready to serve with Chutney.
Note: For Special Occasions and for guests add 3 tea spoons of ghee with the oil. Add roasted cashews finally.
