Ellu Sadham (Sesame Rice)

This type of Ellu sadham tastes very different and yummy. Ellu sadham is very healthy and delicious rice variety which is also easy to make.  A simple raitha and papad make this rice more yummy.  We make variety rice on the next day of Pongal Festival. Ingredients for making Ellu Sadham

Black Sesame 5 table spoon
Corainder seeds 2 tea spoons
Black gram/ Chana dal  3 tea spoons
Asafetida - 1/2 tea spoon
Bengal gram 3 tea spoons
Red chillies 10
Tamarind a goose berry size
Jaggery a small piece
Gingelly oil
Mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves and peanuts for seasoning


Method for making Ellu Sadham:

Place the sesame in a clean tea filter and show it in the tap and make sure that the sesame is washed and drained well. 
Dry roast coriander seeds, dals, red chillies , pepper corns to brown and transfer to a bowl.
Dry roast required crystal salt too.
Then fry the sesame seeds till they splutter, add asafoetida and take them out.
Finally in some oil fry the tamarind.Then powder everything together with  salt and jaggery.
Add the powder to the rice.
In a sauteing pan heat 4 table spoons of sesame oil, do the seasoning with given items, add to the rice and mix well.
