Green Tomato Kootu
GreenTomato Kootu is a perfect accompaniment for rice. Green raw tomatoes taste very delicious with mild sourness and hence tamarind need not be added while cooking this. This kootu can also be had with Chappathis or Rotis...
Ingredients for making Green Tomato Kootu:
Chopped green raw tomatoes from 8 to 10 tomatoes
Thur dal 3 tb spoons
Mustard seeds and cumin seeds for seasoning
Curry leaves
For Kootu Paste:
Heat 2 tea spoons of oil in a pan and fry 1 tb spoon of urad dal and 4 red chillies to brown. After they get cooled add 2 tb spoons of coconut with them and grind to paste with water and keep aside.
Method for making Green Tomato Kootu:
In a pressure pan add thur dal at the bottom. Then add tomato pieces on them. Pour 2 cups of water and add 1/2 tea spoon of turmeric powder. Cook them to 2 whistles.
After the steam is released, mix them and boil them with required salt. Add the coconut paste and curry leaves. Saute it with mustard seeds, cumin seeds and hing powder in a tea spoon of oil.
