Masal Vadai

0

Masal Vadai made adding lot of onion is a popular road side snack in Tamil nadu. The Masal Vadai sold in my school canteen (I am a teacher) always stands special in taste and stays crispy for a long time without becoming hard and dry. I got the recipe from the chef and from then, started to follow the method given by him. Not only as a snack,  in south Tamil nadu many people have the habit of having Masal Vadai as the side dish for Rice.

Paasi Paruppu Thogayal / Moong Dal Chutney

0

Thogayal is the chutney made in Tamilnadu meant to have with rice. Instead of Kuzhambu / gravy we make this thick chutney out of various dals or veggies and mix with hot steaming rice with a dallop of ghee and relish with pappad and any vegetable kootu. Especially we prefer to have this during rainy nights. Paasi paruppu thogayal is a healthy chutney made of roasted moong dal that gives fantastic aroma and taste. We make Paruppu thogayal with thurdal, moong dal or chana dal. Out of the three this moong dal thogayal / chutney is the healthiest and tastiest one...

Elders of our families always prefer full meals as brunch around 11 a.m and have tiffin with coffee around 3.30 p.m. This Puli Pongal is one of the tiffin meant for evening tiffin. My grandma used to make this for us to have when we return from school. It tastes very yummy with tanginess and really tickles the tastebuds..
