Varagarisi Upma, made of millet and vegetables is highly nutritious, rich in minerals and filling. It is a good option for breakfast and dinner..
Ingredients:
Varagu Arisi - 1cup
Onion - 1 big
Mixed Vegetables - 1 cup
(Carrot,beans, capsicum, green peas)
Ginger - 1 inch (cut into small pieces)
For Tempering:
Mustard seeds - 1 tspn
Urad dal - 1 tspn
Channa dal - 1 tspn
Green chilli - 2 to 3 nos(slit)
Curry leaves - few
Asafoetida - a pinch
Method:
Chop all the vegetables and onion into small pieces. Heat oil in a kadai and add the items given for tempering one by one. Now add ginger and onion and saute for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the vegetables and saute for few minutes. Now add 3 cups of water and required salt. When the water starts boiling lower the heat and add millets little by little. Stir continuously so that no lumps are formed. Cover and cook by stirring every 2 minutes. Varagu Arisi upma is ready. Serve it with chutney of your choice.

ReplyDeleteNo it is not sooji rawa. It is a cereal. Siru Dhaniya vagaigalil ondru.
DeleteHi Sujatha..it is a millet not rava. You can ask for kodo millet in organic shops.
