Aval (Poha) Payasam: Gokulashtami Special

We all know the divine and true friendship between Lord Krishna and Kuselan (Sudama) and how a small bag of Aval (Poha) enhanced their friendship even more Realistic. How about giving Lord Krishna his favourite Poha as a Delightful Aval Payasam on his Birthday!! 

Ingredients:

Aval (Poha) 1 cup
Sugar 2 cups
Whole Milk 4 cups
Cashew 10
Almonds 5

Method:



Step 1:
Soak 5 cashews in a table spoon of warm milk and the mentioned almonds in hot water for 30 minutes.
Step 2:
Heat a heavy bottomed kadai wth 2 tea spoons of ghee and roast the Aval for a minute. Add 3 cups of milk to it and keep stove in medium flame.

Step 3:
While the aval is boiling, grind the soaked cashews and peeled almonds to smooth paste wth the soaked milk and mix it with the remaining 1 cup of milk.
Step 4:

When the Aval boils softly and the milk thickens, add the sugar and boil till the sugar dissolves and finally add the ground paste mix wth milk and stir well. When the stuff thickens switch off the stove and garnish with desired toppings.
