Onion or Shallot Pepper Fry is the traditional fry which I learnt from my Grandma. She makes it often and she says that it cures mouth ulcer. This Shallot or Small Onion Pepper Fry really gives a delightful combo with any rice. It can also be simply mixed with hot rice and had. A simple but finger licking curry.
Ingredients for making Onion or Shallot Pepper Fry:
Shallots 1/2 kg
Pepper powder 2 tea spoons
Cumin seeds 1 tea spoon
Mustard seeds and Urad dhal for seasoning
Curry leaves
Salt to taste
Oil and Ghee 1 tea spoon each
Method for making Onion or Shallot Pepper Fry:
Peel off the skin of shallots and keep aside.
Heat a pan with oil and ghee.
Saute it with mustard seeds, urad dhal and curry leaves.
Add salt, turmeric powder and pepper powder to the oil and add the shallots and mix well.
Keep the flame to low and cove the pan with a lid.
After 10 minutes take the lid off and stir.
Fry the shallots till they become brown and well roasted.
