Broken Wheat Kheer (Gothumai Payasam)

Very simple but delicious Payasam is this Broken Wheat kheer. Instead of sugar Jagerry is used and it tastes heavenly if we use whole milk. This is very ideal for Neividhyam. Try this yummy broken wheat payasam  for this Thai Velli kizhamai.....


Ingredients for making Broken Wheat Payasam:

Broken Wheat 2 tb spoons

Water 3 cups

Powdered Jagerry equal to the amount of boiled broken wheat approximately

Milk 2 cups (Whole milk)

Cashews and finely chopped coconut pieces roasted in ghee 1 tea spoon each

Cardamom Powder 1/2 tea spoon

Ghee 2 tea spoons

Method for making Broken Wheat Payasam:














Heat a pressure pan with 2 tea spoons of ghee. Roast the broken wheat in it till nice aroma comes.

Add 3 cups of water to it and pressure cook up to 4 whistles.

After the steam is released, open the lid and again switch onn the stove.

Add the powdered jageery to the boiled wheat and let them to boil well. 

After the raw smell of jaggery goes mix well and keep the flame to low.

Now add the milk to it and mix well. 

After adding milk with jaggery it should not be boiled to roll on level.

Once the milk mixes with the stuff switch on the stove.

Add cardamom powder and roasted nuts and coconut pieces.
