Spicy and Tasty Field Beans Curry (Mochai Kaara Curry)

Field beans curry goes very well with plain boiled rice, curd rice and rotis. The coated spices and onions make it lip smacking. In the months of December and January, we get fresh Field beans in the market and on other days we get dried ones in the market.



Ingredients for making Spicy and Tasty Field Beans Curry (Mochai Kaara Curry):


Field beans 200 gms
Sliced onions 1 cup
Slitted green chillies 2
Red chilli powder 1 tea spoon
Cumin seed powder 1/2 tea spoon
Cumin seed 1/2 tea spoon
Coriander seed powder 2 teas spoons
Saunf powder/Fennel seed powder 1/2 tea spoon
Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon
Besan flour 2 tb spoons
Salt to taste
Oil 2 tb spoons
Curry leaves and coriander leaves


How to make Spicy and Tasty Field Beans Curry (Mochai Ka
ara Curry)?












Soak the beans overnight. Drain the water and pressure cook the beans with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder to 3 or 4 whistles till they become soft.
Heat a pan with oil. Saute it with cumin seeds.
Add thinly sliced onions and green chillies. Fry till the onions are half cooked.
Add all the powders mentioned above except the besan flour and stir well in medium flame.
Now transfer the boiled beans  to the pan and stir well. Add required salt.
Pour half cup of water and mix well. When everything thickens sprinkle the besan flour and mix well in such a way that the flour mixes with other spices and coat well on the beans.
Garnish with the leaves.
This can also be had as evening tiffin with tea or coffee.
