Aloo Kulcha (Potato Stuffed Indian Bread)


For a very long time I had in my mind making Kulcha is a tough process as the name sounds different. But once I started making it at home and it came out just as it is made in restaurants it has become our special dinner whenever guests we have. An easy to make and filling dinner...

Ingredients for making Aloo Kulcha:


Whole wheat flour 2 cups
Maida/All purpose flour 2 cups
Salt to taste
Baking powder 1/4 tea spoon
Cooking soda 1/4 tea spoon
Curd 100 ml
Oil 3 tb spoons


Mix all the above ingredients and knead to soft dough adding water. Cover it with a damp cloth and set aside for 3 hours.










Take some kasur methi leaves and Sesame seeds for garnishing and keep aside.

For stuffing:


Well boiled Potatoes 5
Red chilli powder 1 tea spoon
Salt to taste
Cumin seed powder 1/2 tea spoon
Garam masala powder 1/4 tea spoon














Peel of the skin of potatoes and mash them well without lumps. Add other ingredients with it mix well and make lemon size balls out of it and keep aside.




How to make Aloo Kulcha?


Take a ball of dough and roll it to thick small roti.Place the potato stuffing in the centre and bring the edges to the centre and seal it.










Dust it with the wheat flour and roll to small roti again.Sprinkle some kasuri methi leaves and sesame seeds on it and again roll it gently pressing with rolling pin to a bigger roti.















Heat a dosa tawa and cook on both sides with oil or butter.
