Wheat Adai

Adai is the lentil based Dosai which is a traditional item of Tamilnadu. Since more lentils are added it is rich in protein. I tried Wheat Adai replacing Wheat for Rice. It turned out very well and in fact tastier, crispier  than the regular adai....

Ingredients for making Wheat Adai:

Wheat 3 cups

Urad dal 1/4 cup

Moong dal 1/4 cup

Thur dal 1/4 cup

Chana dal 1/4 cup

Red chillies 4 or more of your choice.

Hing / Asafoetida powder

Salt to taste

How to make Wheat Adai?

Soak all dals and wheat together for 5 hours after washing them well.

Then add salt and red chillies and grind to coarse batter in a mixie adding hing powder.

Add finely chopped onions or any spinach of your choice to the batter, mix well and make adais.

Make hole in the centre of the Adai and pour a tea spoon of sesame oil in the centre and around the Adai.

After it gets cooked, turn the other side also and allow it cook till it becomes brown.

It tastes very well if it is made after 4 hours of grinding but can also be made immediately . Serve hot with Chutney or Sambar

    1. Adding wheat flour makes it verysoftand not crispy.adai batter should be coarse. If u dont get wheat soak wheat rava or broken wheat.
