Spicy Aloo Sweet Corn Dosa

A small change made to regular Masal Dosa with the stuffings of Potatoes and sweetcorn enhanced with the flavours of spices make this dosa spicy, tasty and very different...

Ingredients for making Spicy Aloo Sweet Corn Dosa:

For dosa batter:

  • Soak 3 cups of Parboiled/ Idli rice, 1 cup of raw rice, 1 cup of Urad dal and 1 tea spoon of fenugreek seeds in water for 4 hours.
  • Wash them well and grind to smooth batter in a blender or wetgrinder adding required salt and water.
  • Allow them to ferment for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Now the batter is ready to use.

For the stuffing:

  • Pressure cooked potatoes 2 mashed well
  • Thinly sliced onions and chopped tomatoes 1 cup each
  • Sweet corn 1 cup
  • Garlic ginger paste 1 tea spoon
  • Red chilli powder 1 tea spoon
  • Turmeric powder a pinch
  • Cumin seed powder 1/2 tea spoon
  • Coriander seed powder 1 tea spoon
  • Curry leaves and coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 2 table spoons

How to make the stuffing:

Heat a pan with oil.
Fry the onions till the colour changes.
Add the tomatoes too and fry till it becomes mushy.
Add the paste, all the powders and salt and stir well.
Put the mashed potatoes and stir for few seconds.
Add the sweet corns too and mix well.
Keep the flame low and keep stirring for five more minutes and add the coriander and curry leaves.
Now the stuffing is ready.

How to make Spicy Aloo Sweet Corn Dosa?

Heat a dosa tawa and grease it with oil.
Pour a ladle of batter and spread it around to thin dosa and sprinkle few drops of oil around it.
Cover the dosa with a lid and cook it for 30 seconds. No need to flip off and cook.
Place 2 table spoons of stuffings on the dosa and spread slightly.
Bring it to the traingular shape as shown in the photograph and take it out from the tawa,
