Buttermilk Poha (Aval) Kichadi

Simple, light and healthy breakfast that is very easy to do. This Buttermilk Poha Kichadi is less spicy and highly suitable for Upavas (fasting) days and it is easily digestible one for elders too...




Ingredients for Buttermilk Poha Kichadi:


Poha 2 cups

Butter 2 cups (It should not be a sour butter milk)

Oil 2 table spoons

Salt as required

Green chillies 2 and Red chilli 1

Mustard seeds, Urad dhal and Bengal gram for seasoning 

Curry leaves and Coriander leaves

Hing 1/2 tea spoon


Method for making Buttermilk Poha Kichadi:


In a broad bowl soak the Poha with buttermilk and salt for 30 minutes. Then heat a wok with 2 table spoons of oil. Saute it with the items given for seasoning. When the grams become brown add the hing and curry leaves. Then add the soaked Poha and mix gently for 2 minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
