Radish Chutney(Mooli Chutney)

I bet you, whoever tastes this chutney couldnot findout that it is made of radish. Such a delicious, healthy and spicy chutney that goes very well with rice, dosa, idli and parathas.  It is a very low calorie root vegetable that has many nutrients.....

Ingredients for making Radish Chutney:

Fresh radish 3 or 4

Chana dal 2 tea spoons

Urad dal 2 tea spoons

Coriander seeds 2 tea spoons

Red chillies 4

Tamarind a small gooseberry size

Hing powder 1/2 tea spoon

Salt to taste

Oil 3 tea spoons

Method for making Radish Chutney:

Wash the radishes well and peel off the skin. Grate it in a vegetable scraper and keep aside.

Heat a kadai with a tea spoon of oil and fry the dals, chillies and coriander seeds to brown colour. Add the tamarind also in pieces while frying. After transferring them to a plate add the remaining two spoons of oil and add the radish. Keep stirring then and there and cook them till the water is drained or evaporated well. Wait till it gets cooled down.

In the mixie jar first put all the ingredients except the radish and run it for few seconds. Then add the radish and grind to chutney coarsely. No need to add water.

Saute it with mustard seeds, curry leaves, urad dal and hing powder.
