Maize/Corn Flour Dosa (Chola Dosai)

The dosa made from Maize flour  tastes really amazing. This healthy tiffin can be made very easily for breakfast or dinner and i was surprised when I made this first time since it tasted crispy and tasty like Restaurant Rava Dosa......

How to make Maize Dosa?

  • Mix 2 cups of Maize flour (Chola Maavu)  and 1 1/4 cups of Rice flour in a bowl with required salt and water.

  • The consistency should be thinner than regular Dosa batter. (Like Rava dosa batter)

  • Then in a kadai heat two tea spoons of oil and saute it with mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves.

  • Then add finely chopped green chillies, onions and cashews. (anything could be added like grated carrot or cabbage) Fry for 30 seconds and add the stuff to the batter and mix well.

  • Now heat the Dosa Tawa (Pan), Grease it and with the ladle pour the dosa batter starting from the edges in circular motion. Then move towards the centre and then fill up the bigger gaps.

Note:

This dosa comes out very well in the Non stick Pan than the regular traditional Tawa, since the maize flour has the tendency to break while flipping the dosa to the other side.

The dosa tastes further extraordinary if you soad 1 cup of raw rice for two hours and grind it to smooth batter and add to the maize flour.

Onion and Tomato chutney serves well with this Dosa.
