Aval Pori Dosa / Puffed Rice Dosa

I just wanted to try dosa with Aval Pori with which we used to make Karthigai Pori Urundai. Though I make often Dosa with the other type of Pori commonly called as Murmura, this time I tried with the Pori made from beaten rice flakes called as AvalPori (Poha Murmura). It was really a sweet surprise for me to get such a tasty dosa with pores on it. Here is the recipe for Aval Pori Dosa which is very simple and tasty....

Pre time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 15 mins
Serves: 3

Ingredients for making Aval Pori Dosa / Puffed Rice Dosa :

Rice (Raw rice or Parboiled rice of your choice) 1 cup

Aval Pori (Murmura made of Poha) 4 cups

Urad dal (Black gram) 2 table spoons

Fenugreek seeds 1 tea spoon

Salt to taste

How to make Aval Pori Dosa / Puffed Rice Dosa?

Wash the rice and urad dal well and add the fenugreek to them.
Soak in water for 4 hours.
Before grinding rinse the Pori / Murmura and add to the soaked items.

Grind them together with required salt in a mixie to fine smooth batter. Use the soaked water to grind the batter.
Allow them to ferment for 6 hours. Add some water to bring it to thick milkshake consistency.
Make dosas of desired thickness in a dosa tawa drizzling few drops of oil both sides.

Serve with chutney or Sambar.
This dosa can be made thick like Oothappam or can be made thin and crispy if going to be served hot.
