Shallots are tastier and healthier than ordianry onions. For all traditional tiffin items, in southern parts of Tamilnadu, this chutney is made. This tastes very delicious to have with hot idlis, dosas and even with Chapathis...
Heat 3 tea spoons of sesame (gingelly) oil in a pan and fry required quantity of shallots with 2 or 3 red chillies. Fry till the shallots changes the colour. Allow them to cool down Add a bit of tamarind, hing powder and salt. Grind to chutney. Don't add water and the chutney should not be very smooth. Saute it with mustard seeds in a teaspoon of sesame oil.
There are many cooking tips available online and offline that might teach us a lot. So we must always try to keep them handy, just in case.
