Ragi idli (Kezhvaragu Idli)

A tasty, nutritional, healthy and gluten free breakfast recipe which is very easy to make and gives high calcium. Ragi idli gives an exotic flavour and tastes very well with Milagai podi, sambhar or chutney.

Ingredients to make Ragi Idli:


Ragi flour  - 3 cups
Urad dhal - 1 cup
Salt to taste

 

 

 

 

 

 

Method for making Ragi Idli:

 


Soak urad dhal in water for 3 hours and grind well till it becomes pluffy. Add the urad dhal batter with the ragi flour and mix well with enough water and salt. It should be similar to the consistency of doasa batter. Leave it to ferment for 5 to 6 hours.
Grease the idli plates. Mix well the fermented batter and fill the idli plates with the batter and steam for 15 to 20 minutes.
