Urulaikizhangu / Potato Podimos

Ingredients  for making Urulaikizhangu / Potato Podimos :


Medium sized potatoes pressure cooked 4
Grated fresh coconut 3 table spoons
Finely chopped green chillies 2 tea spoons
Finely chopped ginger 1 tea spoon
Asafoetida powder 1/4 tea spoon
Lemon juice 2 tea spoons
Salt to taste
Mustard seeds and urad dal for seasoning
Curry leaves
Oil 4 tea spoons




How to make Urulaikizhangu / Potato Podimos?


Peel off the skin of potatoes and mash them to rough small pieces with hand and keep aside.
Heat a pan with oil and do the seasoning with mustard seeds and urad dal.
Once the seeds splutter and the dal becomes brown add the curry leaves, asafoetida powder, chillies, ginger and stir well.
add required salt too and give a stir.
Add the potatoes and mix gently.
Let them get blended well in medium flame for 5 minutes.
Stir occasionally.
Now add the grated coconut and again stir well.
Switch off the stove
Squeeze 2 tea spoons of lemon juice, mix well and serve.
