Shivaratiri recipe with Sweet Potato

On the day of Maha Shivaratiri every year we observe strict fasting and keep chanting prayers. After the Puja is over at night, we offer this Sweet potatoes in jaggery syrup to Lord Mahadev and breaks the fast by having this Prasadam. During the season of this vegetable we also make this recipe as evening snack to kids which is very delicious and healthy...

Ingredients for making Shivaratri Recipe with Sweet Potato:


Sweet Potaoes pressure cooked 300 gms
Jagerry Powder 4 tb spoons
Green cardamom pods crushed 3
Ghee (Clarified butter) 2 tea spoons
Dry ginger powder 1/2 tea spoon (Chukku powder)


How to make Shivaratri Recipe with Sweet Potato?

Peel off the skin of boiled sweet potatoes.
Cut them to rounds or pieces.Boil them till becomes soft and keep aside.
In a pan heat 1/2 cup of water and add the jaggery powder.
Once it melts, remove the dirts by filtering it.
Again boil the syrup for 2 minutes.
Add the boiled sweet potatoes and stir.
Finally add the dry ginger powder, cardamom and ghee and mix well.
The prasadham is ready now.
