Rava Kharabath

Rava Kharabath is an authentic breakfast item of Karnataka. This Rava Kharabath tastes spicier than our regular Rava upma. Rava Kharabath doesn't need any special side dish to relish with, but tastes very delicious with coconut chutney. Ingredients for making Rava Kharabath:

  • Sooji / Rava / Semolina 1 cup
  • Oil 3 tb spoons
  • Finely chopped onions, carrot  and beans
  • Green Peas 2 tb spoons
  • Turmeric Powder 1/4 tspn
  • Sambhar Powder or Vaangibath powder 1 & 1/2 tea spoons
  • Ghee 2 tea spoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves and Coriander leaves
  • Cashews Few
  • Mustard, Urad and Chana dal for seasoning

How to make rava Kharabath?

Heat a pan with oil.
Do the seasoning with given items.
Add curry leaves and cashews.
Once all become roasted well fry the onions and then peas.
Now add the veggies one by one.
Add a pinch of turmeric powder and the Sambhar Powder.
Fry for 2 minutes.
Put the rava in to the pan.
In medium flame roast atleast for 3 to 5 minutes.
Pour in 2 and 1/4 cups of water and add required salt.
Mix well.
Close with a lid and keep the pan to low.
Let it be cooked for 10 minutes.
Switch off.
Open the lid, add 2 tspns of ghee and garnish with corianders.
